Successful Business Blogging

BLOG FOR YOUR BUSINESS
If you are trying to market a business of anykind, be it an MLM, Network Marketing, Direct Sales, Service or traditional business, your blog can literally drive 1000's of potential customers and prospects to you for free.

With all the no cost blogging services available, it could be hands down the best and most inexpensive marketing you do.  It gives you a web presence and lets you add valuable information that your prospects can come back to for more.

There are many free blog sites you can go to and set up your blog.  But it is CRUCIAL that you think of a few things before and after getting your new blog website.

Be able to use your own domain name
Make all the customizations you want
Be able to back up your blog entries
Track your stats (this is great for any site)
Have it look professional
I could probably go on forever about things you need to think of when you look into setting up your blog, but if you make sure you have the ability to do those things, you will be just fine.  I will give you a brief description why each of the steps above are so critical.

DOMAIN NAME

When it comes to getting search engine recognition, your own domain name is essential.  You don't want your website to be called mywebsite.blogprogram.com.  You want to be able to buy a domain name (they only cost about $10 a year).  With your own domain name you are branding yourself and your business.  That will carry you very far into the future regardless of what you are promoting currently.

CUSTOMIZATION

There is nothing worse then signing up for a free blog, and then letting it go to waste because you don't like the look of it.  Now most blog programs do offer free templates and themes.  But the problem is there are still a lot of things you will need to add to make it pretty, and to make it 'YOUR OWN'.  Wordpress is one of the most cutting edge systems out there. But you will have some skills to develop to learn how to use it. (IF YOU USE WORDPRESS, BE SURE TO SET IT UP WITH YOUR OWN HOSTING).

BACKING UP YOUR POSTS

It won't make you happy if you lose everything you have posted for the last year.  Make sure you can back up your posts.  Not all blog software makes this available for you.

TRACKING

You will want to be able to track your blogs hits and web traffic.  There are tons of free services out there that allow you to do this.  But if your blog or website doesn't allow you to add tracking code, then you will be screwed.

PROFESSIONAL LOOK

As I stated earlier, if your blog doesn't make you feel good, you are far less likely to use it often.  Get a blog that you are very happy with from the beginning.  I do love Wordpress because anything can be done with a Wordpress blog.  But you will have to take some serious time learning how to tweak it, because after you set it up, it is very unappealing.

Now with these keys and principles in mind, you know what to look for when setting up your blog.  I want to give you a couple more ideas to chew on though.

Your blog can be a place for everything you do on the internet.  It can drive traffic and prospects to you, and it can also be used to create many different pages, multiple looks, multiple ways to build your business.
